Servo Driven Pick & Place

A customer asked us to design, manufacture and install a pick and place unit to move plastic bottles from one conveyor to another. The bottles are manufactured on a Portola Blow Mould Technologies Uniloy reciprocating blow moulding machine (model 350R2) and then lowered on a cooling bed which in turn delivers the bottles to the pick & place unit. The cooling bed section is servo driven and stops with an accuracy of +/- 0.05mm. The bottles are raised using pneumatics and moved using a servo driven linear actuator. Both servos are manufactured by Parker and they both have Hiperface absolute position resolvers. The servo drives are Parker Compax3 drives. The pick and place equipment is enclosed in stainless steel guarding with polycarbonate viewing windows and Pilz safety interlocks.
