Tissue Dust Extraction System Installation

Our customer had purchased a dust extraction system from Italy for their large manufacturing facility in Auckland. The supplied equipment included:

  • Internal ducting and dust extraction hoods.
  • Dust explosion fire protection system.
  • Valve boxes to turn on and off various parts of the system.
  • New dust collector and the re-use of 2 existing dust collectors.
  • A new dust extraction fan and sound proof enclosure.
  • External ducting and valving.

The designed system included the dust extraction system, but not the external supports for the external equipment. Designs for the internal supports were supplied, but were impractical for fast and safe installation – site welding at height in an operational tissue factory with high levels of dust was not ideal! We redesigned & manufactured all the internal ducting supports and designed all the external ducting supports to comply with NZ seismic requirements.

The equipment arrived in time for the Coronavirus Pandemic and associated disruptions so installation was delayed. We installed all the internal duct work first over a number of weeks fitting in and around the production schedule of 2 productions lines. The galvanised external duct supports were then installed and finally, the dust collectors, fans and external ducting.
